Header? Footer?

I received a resume from a good friend the other day and noticed that they had put their name and contact info in a header that was repeated onto all pages of their resume.
After thinking about this a while I though I would make a blog post around the topic of headers and footers.
Below is the original resume I received.

After reviewing this resume, I asked the experts for their opinion on this topic. The responses I received inspired me to rewrite this friend's resume.

Having your contact information on a resume is a must! However resumes should be concise and free of redundancies. There is no reason for your contact information to be on your resume more than once. At the top on the first page near your name is the only place your contact information needs to be.

There is no reason to have a header or footer included on a resume. Whether the resume is scanned electronically or by a staff member, make it easy to match their needs (aka keywords) with your experience. Is the candidate trying to show the potential employer that they know how to create a header and/or footer? Keep the presentation clear and uncluttered.

Armed with this information and other aesthetic principles laid out in this blog, I set to fix this resume. You can see how with a few simple tricks, you can really improve the appearance of a resume.
